Featuring artists: Younhee Paik, Hae Soon Park, David Mark and more
Exhibition Date: August 1st – August 31st, 2009
Opening reception: August 6th 2009, 5:00pm – 7:30pm

Sandra Lee Gallery, formerly Evolving art gallery, will rotate it’s inaugural group exhibition, Exploration and Celebration, at our new Union Square location, with a continued focus on West Coast Bay Area and Asian contemporary art practice. This month Exploration and Celebration will further investigate the current development of global art trends by presenting, side by side, the work of internationally renowned, mid-career and emerging artists. Participating artists include Youhee Paik, Hyesook Park, and David Mark.

Los Angeles based artist Hyesook Park was recently recognized as one of the West Coast’s most influential painters by her inclusion in the Oakland Museum of California’s critically commended exhibition LA Paint. Park’s utilizes texture and scale to transform traditional Asian landscape painting into a sensual expression of nature and formal aesthetics.

Younhee Paik’s awe-inspiring paintings and installations have been incorporated into important exhibition and collections around the world including the National Museum of Contemporary Art, Korea, National Museum of Modern Art, Mexico City, and the San Jose Museum of Art. Her “Galaxy” pieces, at once intimate and universal, reflect a symbolic constellation of experiences both personal and spiritual, illuminated by her interior wisdom and structured around her history as Korean American immigrant.

As much of a scientist as he is an artist, David Mark, atmospheric paintings present us with the possibility of discovering new worlds through creative exploration. Inspired by planetary dynamics, Mark reveals the relationship between our material reality at its most elemental to a cosmic reality that exists beyond human reason and understanding .

Sandra Lee Gallery aims to connect serious art collectors and art lovers with innovative and affordable original paintings, sculptures and photography. The exhibition’s title announces Sandra Lee Gallery’s dedication to discovering and nurturing innovative and thought provoking artists engaged with their work and its reception.
